Matthew & Kamilah’s engagement session took place at the beautiful Hamilton Beachfront and the lighting couldn’t have been more perfect for these two lovebirds. The couple thought this would make a fun location, especially since they spent a lot of time at the Etobicoke beachfront while they were dating.
The pair met on a blind date, set up by Kamilah’s friend Michael – who actually happens to be Matthew’s cousin! Matthew surprised Kamilah with the proposal on her birthday weekend, which was very fitting since their first date was on Matthew’s birthday! Both the wedding ceremony and reception will be held in Mississauga, since the couple both grew up there.
I asked Kamilah what she was most excited about for her wedding day and she replied with, “the opportunity to make it ‘official’ with my favourite person. Also, the cake, or CAKES in our case.”
The couple chose to wear jeans and nice tops for their shoot and were aiming for a slightly more ‘put-together’ version of their regular selves. Kamila had some great advice for couples about to have their own engagement session: “Forget that the camera is on you and just be yourself. Also, do all of the weird things that the photographer asks you to do.”
It was so evident that these two enjoyed every moment together behind the camera. Sometimes couples may wonder about poses that I suggest, but ultimately, my clients know that these are small things that can contribute to the perfect portrait. You may be surprised which photos turn out to be your absolute favourites!
The couple commented that their overall experience was “Really fun! Neither one of us have ever been on a photo shoot so it was a novel experience for us. That being said, Jennifer is very personable with a great sense of humor so it made the whole experience both fun and easy.”
Thank you for the kind words guys! It was such fun to spend the day with you both, and I look forward to photographing your wedding!
