Twilight at a local beach brought a beautiful young mermaid to shore… What a creative experience this themed session was!

At first glance, Maddie may look like a young girl, but after the outfit, makeup and props came together, she was fully transformed into a mermaid with an old soul.

This themed session was based on a birthday present Maddie received (a swim tail). She was so excited and we wanted to capture her childhood imagination.  What a gift! Maddie is full of personality and has an adorable (and hilarious!) belly laugh.  We had a blast and she was so comfortable in front of the camera…you wouldn’t have known it was only her first session with me!  I incorporated a flower crown into the outfit and it turned out that Maddie loved it! She still expresses her love for the crown when she looks at pictures of herself from the photo shoot.

When kids are behind the camera, they can get a little nervous or shy.  My client’s advice for others planning a session for their child? “Remind your child not to be nervous and that the photographer will tell them what to do and how to pose.  All they need to do is just be themselves and the camera and photographer will do the rest!”  That sums is up perfectly.  A child’s personality will shine through the lens every single time.  Maddie did just that and I’m so thrilled they had such an excellent experience in our creative session.  They have both said they would love to have another photo shoot in the future.  The feeling is mutual!
