I was so excited to be Nick and Kaitlyn’s Burlington Wedding Photographer! This was the second time I was able to photograph the couple! The first session was their adorable engagement shoot at the pumpkin patch in October. Click HERE to check out that fun session!
It was so much fun to see these two tie the knot on January 20, 2018. They were wed at Wellspring Church in Burlington, with a reception to follow at the Burlington Convention Centre. All food was catered by the venue itself and the the wedding cake for the reception was homemade. The couple used Jumpstart DJ Services for the music at the reception. Kaitlyn chose to forgo hiring a wedding planner and work out the big and little details of their special day completely on her own. She purchased her ceremony reception dress from a local Facebook group (Ontario Wedding Swap & Sell) and the reception dress from Opportunity Bride. She used Jeans Flower Shop in Hamilton for the gorgeous floral arrangements.
The bride’s favourite moment was saying ‘I do’ to her “forever man”. She expressed that “The ceremony was the best part of the day and the reception at the church following. Anytime I got to kiss him was a favourite moment.” She admits she was a little nervous the day of and said “I was terrified to be giving my life to another person.” but despite the nerves, love and excitement was so evident on her face.
She described her wedding day as “Classic. It was a warm winter day with beautiful sunshine. The day was a whirlwind of love and support coming from all different directions.” and went on to share, “I was surrounded by the people who I love and who love me. I had very high expectations and it was better than I imagined!”
The couple chose to see each other before the wedding, sharing their first looks at Kaitlyn’s home. “I’m not superstitious; I wanted to get pictures when everyone was looking their best before the ceremony. It was something my parents did and I wanted to continue the tradition.” She encourages other couples who will be tying the knot to invest in pictures and videos and stated that “the day is 24 hours, but the memories are most important because they last forever.” She shared a tip on how to prepare the bridal party for photos on the big day: “Make a list of the poses you want because when you are in the moment you forget you only have one chance to get them.” Thank you both for allowing me to share in your special day; it was magical!
